Jean P's Soul Food Express-Closed

Jean P's Soul Food Express
2540 Figueroa
LA
213-741-2126

Hided behind a Popeye's is Jean P's Soul Food Express. They advertise 99 cent specials but those are mainly for vegetable items. I ordered a chicken breast and corn and okra for $3.71.

First the corn and okra, which looked good on the steam table. I'm glad I ordered it becuase it was awesome. The corn and okra was in a tomato based sauce. The corn was sweet and cooked perfectly. Almost like having corn on the cob. The okra, which I normally don't like because it's too goey, was good and maybe the tomato based sauce hide the goeyness.

The fried chicken breast left a lot to be desired. First it wasn't hot or even warm, it was sitting in the basket above the fryer instead of a warmer. Then I took a bite and it was as dry as any desert. The skin lacked any crunch and flavor. Bland and flavorless are two perfect words for the chicken.

Service was good. The lady was very nice and took my order quickly. My order was quickly prepared and they were friendly.

I would go back to Jean P's but I wouldn't order the fried chicken. The meatloaf and smothered pork chop looked good. So I may order that the next time I'm there.

Golden Bird Chicken-Closed

Golden Bird
801 Manchester
Inglewood
310-671-2900

Golden Bird is in the same restaurant as Porky's BBQ in Inglewood, which I reviewed earlier. Golden Bird used to be one of the better fried chicken places in LA. But something happened and there are very few Golden Bird restaurants left.

I never went to a Golden Bird back in their hey day but I wasn't impressed with the Golden Bird of today. I ordered the two piece, breast and wing, chicken and biscuit combo for about $5. The skin was crunchy but it didn't have any type of flavor. Even today's Pioneer Chicken has a better flavor with the same crunch. But the chicken was a good sized piece and was juicy. But it was just too bland and nothing special about it. I'm not sure what's missing, maybe more spices or something.

The chicken includes a side of mac and cheese which was very good. Soft macaroni with lots of burnt pieces of of goey cheese. Some of the best mac and cheese around.

Golden Bird is ok but I still like Louisiana Fried Chicken much better. I wouldn't rush back to Golden Bird and if I'm in the area I would much rather go to any Louisiana Fried Chicken.

Porky's BBQ-Closed

Porky's BBQ
801 Manchester
Inglewood
310-671-2900

I finally got a chance to go to Porky's BBQ. I don't like to go near the Forum anymore because too many memories about the great "Showtime" Lakers. But I went today to try Porky's. I thought the food was OK but hardly overwhelming.

The pork rib lunch is a steal at $7.99 that includes one side along with dirty rice and Texas toast. I had the mac and cheese as my side. The prestentation of the ribs is eye catching. The put the ribs on a pile of sizzling green peppers and onions. The ribs were well smoked and fairly meaty but it was kind of bland and didn't have alot of flavor. They were also a lit on the mushy side, almost too well done. The mac and cheese was pretty good. Lots of cheese and just slightly burnt that adds a nice tough to mac and cheese. The dirty rice was tasty with greens, spices and some meat which I think is pulled pork.

Service was pretty good. One minor issue, I asked to get seperate orders for the chicken and BBQ but he put it all on one order. Not that big of a deal but still something to be careful of. But if the couple in front of you take forever to order, it maybe awhile before you can place your order. I can't believe some people think they can take forever to place an order. I mean I could have placed my order, paid and got through half the meal and they still wouldn't have decided what they wanted.

I would not go back to Porky's. While they had good sized portions and the prices were good the food wasn't anything special.

JoJo's Pizza Kitchen-Closed

JoJo's Pizza Kitchen
3560 Temple
Pomona
909-444-9113

JoJo's location in Pomona is listed on their website and menu as being independently owned and operated. I enjoy the pizza but I was surprised from the lack of people there at lunch. With Cal Poly Pomona so close, I figured it would be very crowded for lunch. But while there was a steady crowd it was nothing overwhelming.

I ordered the lunch special, two, one topping slices of pizza and a soda for $6.48. The pizza is a thin crust, NY style pizza. It wasn't crispy or charred, like many NY style pizzas, but it was hot and fresh. They were also huge, I would say about a quarter of a large pizza. I thought the amount of cheese and pepperoni was very good, they don't cheat you out of anything. The pizza is a little on the greasy side, so that could be good or bad depending on your point of view.

Service is very good. You're greeted quickly and the person at the cashier, who looks like he is the manager or owner, was friendly and helpful. There seems to be regular lunch crowd because he was joking around with many people. The pizza came up quickly and like I said was hot and fresh.

I would go back to JoJo's. The pizza is very good and for whole pizzas, after the third topping, all other toppings are free.

Update June 7, 2008.

I went back to JoJo's and ordered a large half pepperoni and half sausage pizza for $19.76. The pizza was great, though the crust was a bit undercooked. There was a ton of cheese and both pepperoni and sausage though it needed a little more sauce.

Service was OK. The guy who took my phone order spoke with a heavy accent. It took a little longer than it should, but in the end the pizza was great.

Ameci-Closed

Ameci
1345 Diamond Bar Blvd
Diamond Bar
909-396-6800

Ameci is a local pizza and pasta place. They have been in Diamond Bar for over ten years and it looks to me as though they have changed ownership recently. They used to send coupons, 2 for 1, half off pizza, etc but now they only have daily specials.

I ordered the chicken parmigiana sandwich for $5.40. The chicken is nothing but a breaded chicken patty, much like the Tyson chicken you get from the supermarket. The chicken is most white meat, so I'll give them some credit. The marinara sauce is good and has some spice to it. The roll is toasted and has a nice chewy center. But overall I wasn't impressed with the sandwich. I mean I could go to the market and buy some Tyson chicken patties and either buy a jar of Rago or get some marinara from an Italian place and make my own sandwiches.

Service was pretty good. I was greeted quickly but I asked what else comes on the sandwich and he had to ask somebody. After he took my order and I paid him, he didn't tell me how long it would take for my order. I had to ask. But he was friendly.

There are many other sandwich places in the area to go to. I wouldn't go back to Ameci. Food isn't bad but it's nothing special either.

Uncle Al's-Closed

Uncle Al's Seafood
400 First St.
Long Beach
562-436-2553

I first went to Uncle Al's about five years ago. I thought at the time the food was good, the tartar sauce was one of the best, but a little on the high side. I figured since I was back in the area, I would give Uncle Al's another try.

I ordered the lunch combo plate, 4 jumbo shrimp and 2 pieces of fish, I asked for red snapper, with green beans for about $8.61. The batter used for the fish and shrimp is cornmeal, which gives it a thicker texture and crunch. The fish was crunchy but there was no flavor to the fish and I like red snapper. You needed to add the tartar sauce to have any flavor.

The shrimp was also crunchy and fairly good sized. They were cooked just right and much better than the fish. The tartar sauce is regular tartar sauce mixed with, I believe ketchup giving it a sweeter taste than regular tartar sauce.

Service was OK. While I got there around 5pm, there is no mention of when lunch is served. Some places will serve lunch portions all day long. The server was kind enough to give me the lunch portion but they should write in their menu what time lunch is served. The server was matter of fact and short. She wasn't friendly, didn't smile at all and spent most of the time behind the counter, eating!!!!

I would not go back to Uncle Al's. The food is good but nothing great. And the prices, for dinner are high and not worth it at all. If I had paid the dinner price for the shrimp and fish, I would have felt it was a rip off.

But, I was taken by the autographed picture of Mr. John Mackey, Hall of Fame TE for the BALTIMORE COLTS!!!

Mr. Mackey should have been the first TE to go into the HOF. But due to politics, Mr. Mackey helped the players form their union, he was the second TE selected, after Mike Ditka. When Mr. Mackey was inducted into the HOF, he said "I played for the BALTIMORE COLTS." and refused to accept his HOF ring in that village. Instead, Mr. Mackey received his HOF ring, where he played, in BALTIMORE, for the BALTIMORE COLTS!! Currently Mr. Mackey is suffering from demenia, which is much like Alzheimer's, so keep him in your prayers.

LBJ's-Closed

LBJ's
6617 Cherry Ave.
Long Beach
562-422-3606

LBJ's is really a soul food place and not a BBQ place. But I wanted to give it another try. The first time a buddy and I did a taste test between LBJ's and Smokey's BBQ. The ribs from LBJ's were some kind of smothered ribs, not the BBQ ribs you see in the pictures. So either my buddy ordered the wrong item or LBJ's gave him the wrong order.

Anyways pictured is the mini pork ribs dinner for $7.57. The mini dinners include rice and gravy and one side. Regular dinners are about $4-$5 more and include two sides and more ribs. The ribs are not smoked. They may even be boiled first and then cooked in the oven. The ribs are too tender, falling off the bone, which I don't like. They had no smoked flavor at all. They were meaty and a good size.

I loved the rice and gravy. A rich gravy that was well seasoned and had tons of flavor. The mac and cheese was some of the best mac and cheese I've ever had. Very soft mac and creamy cheese, they don't cheat you on the cheese, there was a ton of cheese. The cornbread was nice and crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside.

While the ribs weren't to my liking, LBJ's is much better than Ruth's Place.

I would not go back to LBJ's for the ribs. But I would try some of their other items like smothered chicken, fried chicken, and smothered steak.

Service was good but the person taking orders has a thick Spanish accent that makes it hard to understand her at times.

Super Mex-Closed

Super Mex
6830 Katella
Cypress
714-903-1678

While I was taking a different route to Long Beach, going west on Katella, so I didn't have to fight the traffic on the 22 freeway, I found Super Mex just west of Knott. What's interesting is that there are two Super Mexs in the same shopping center. There is a take out only and a sit down, dine in Super Mex. The pictures are from the dine in Super Mex. Super Mex has been around since 1954, starting in Long Beach and expanding into the Orange Curtain.

Super Mex has the most interesting chips and salsa. The salsa is fine, not too spicy and fresh. But the chips are whole corn tortillas and you have to break them into bite sized pieces. They were good but they had spent too much time under a heat lamp.

I ordered an asada tostada. The tostada came on two corn tortilla chips, a small amount of beans, lettuce, jack and cheddar cheese and guacamole. The asada was a little different than most asada that I've had. It had more of a chili flavor. Most asada are grilled with citrus marniade. It was tender and tasty but not my type. Give me the regular asada. The other ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Not the best tostada I've ever had, I actually would prefer a nice tostada shell, not just corn tortilla chips.

Service was pretty good. I was greeted quickly and my order was taken quickly. My only complaint was that the server didn't refill my water quickly enough.

I would go back to Super Mex but would order the chicken or carnitas. Not a big fan of their asada.

Fresca's-Closed

Frescas
2085 Katella Ave
Anaheim
714-935-0666

Frescas in Anaheim is across the street from Anaheim Stadium. I went here one day before an Angel game and thought it was decent food, nothing special but better and cheaper than any Mexican food they serve at Angel games. Which isn't saying much.

So I decide to go back and review a couple of their tacos. Every Tuesday after 4pm they have a crispy chicken taco for $1. I also get a fish taco for $2.14. The fish taco was ok. I like my fish tacos to be crispy. While the fish was pretty big but wasn't crispy at all. The cabbage was very fresh and the white sauce was pretty mild.

The crispy chicken taco were nothing to write home about. They were fairly crispy but they had no flavor, even with the lettuce, tomatoes and cheese on top. There wasn't that much chicken in there either.

Frescas is an OK place to go before an Angel game but I wouldn't make a special trip. Frescas reminds me a lot of the places at mall food courts, where you get decent food. Though Frescas does have better prices than places at mall food courts.

Hof's Hut-Orange-Closed

Hof's Hut
4050 Chapman Ave
Orange
714-634-8606

There used to be a lot more Hof's locations but I know 2-3 locations that have closed down within the past 2-3 years. Hof's Hut is a nice casual restaurant that used to serve good food at good prices.

I went to the Hof's Hut in Orange and ordered the crab and shrimp melt. It's shrimp and imitation crab served open faced with bacon, tomato, avocado and melted jack and cheddar cheese. The menu says sourdough bread but the bread wasn't sourdough. The amount of imitation crab and shrimp was lacking. The picture may make the melt look big but there wasn't a lot of shrimp or imitation crab. The bacon was crisp, but the avocado was mushy and not fresh at all. The fruit was very fresh but when the melt was served, cold fruit was put on the hot melt. Something isn't right. The melt is listed at $8.79 on the menu.

Service was good. The hostess greeted me at second I walked in. I sat at the counter and the waitress came within 2-3 minutes of me sitting down. The waitress was nice enough but within two minutes of her giving me my order, she asked how everything was. At least give me some more time before asking. I barely got one bite in before she asked. She also didn't see I needed a refill of water.

I used to like going to Hof's but I was a little disappointed on this trip back. Maybe the fact that a couple locations have closed is a sign the quality of the food is slipping. I don't think I would go back to Hof's.

Moshi Moshi-Closed

Moshi Moshi
19761 Valley Blvd
Walnut
909-594-1337

Moshi Moshi is a casual Japanese restaurant that cateres to mainly a lunch crowd. They close at 5pm during the week. It's a small unpretenious place that has good prices and decent food in big portions.

I ordered the combination kabobs, with beef, shrimp, and chicken for $8.32. The items are cooked to order. I could see the cook, firing up the grill and heating up the kabobs. The kabobs are served with rice, tempura, and salad. As you can see from the pictures it's a huge amount of food. I believe the beef is top round and basically tender but there are some tough pieces of beef. The beef is cooked to about medium. The chicken is marinated in paprika and is tender but a bit on the dry side. The shrimp was just a little overcooked. The teriyaki sauce was on the salty side and overpowered the flavor of the beef, chicken, and shrimp. The salad was basically iceberg lettuce with some carrots. Nothing special but fresh. The tempura was mostly potatoes and I barely touched it. Interesting in that Moshi Moshi does not have sushi on their menu, though they do have a lot of sandwiches, turkey, roast beef etc, on the menu.

Service is ok. When Moshi Moshi first opened I was eating there and some punk teenaged girl, was pissed she had to clean up the tables, so she had the gall to tell me "Make sure you clean your table after you finish." Now even though she was nice, who the hell is she to tell a customer what to do??? She just was too damn lazy and pissed she had to clean the tables. What really pissed me off was she only asked me!!!! So I told her make sure you tell the other two people who are eating!!! Today when I went, the owner or somebody came outside when I was taking pictures and asked "Can I help you?" I said "No" When I went inside the restaurant to order, they took forever to take my order since they were eating and on a lunch break. But I'm not standing there holding up the damn counter. But my order was taken and the food came within about 15 minutes.

I won't go back to Moshi Moshi. The food is decent, though nothing special and it's certainly a good value. But just a combination of things, the gall of that punk kid, food overcooked, the salty teriyaki sauce, make going to Moshi Moshi a bad options.

Casa Gamino-Closed

Casa Gamino
13041 Newport Ave,
Tustin, CA 92780
(714) 505-5971

Casa Gamino has five locations in the LA area. Interesting they have two locations in the Orange Curtain, including the Old Town Tustin. I had been to this location about five years ago and thought the food was good and the prices were better.

The prices are still good but the food isn't great. I ordered the tostado special with chicken for about $9 tax and tip included. The tostado had lettuce, two kinds of cheese, a tomato slice, beans and this nasty red sauce. The chicken, though plentiful, was very bland and flavorless. The tostado was crispy and flakey. The other ingredients were fresh but the tostado wasn't good because the chicken was so bad.

Service was average. The busboy was very good, he always kept the water glasses and chips and salsa filled. But the waitress took awhile to take our order, even though there wasn't anybody there. She was nice, just a little slow.

I wouldn't go back to Casa Gamino. Too many places closer to me with better food and even better prices. If I were in the Tustin area, I would go to El Gallo Giro in Santa Ana.

That's Amore-Closed

That's Amore
11223 First Ave.
Whittier
562-943-6266

That's Amore is a nice pizza place that caters to the local sports teams and kids parties. I went on a Thursday and surprisingly there were a lot of parties going on. I went with a buddy after watching his son play JV football. The kid had a Caesar salad and a meatball sandwich and my buddy and I had a large pepperoni pizza with two sodas for about $31. The pizza was actually pretty good. The pizza is made in those roller ovens. I'm not sure of the exact name but you put the pizza in on one end and then it rolls through the over and comes out nice and hot at the other end. Some pizza purists do not feel that's the right way to make a pizza. But I don't give a damn. The pizza had lots of cheese, about the same amount as other pizza place's extra cheese and a decent amount of pepperoni. The crust was a regular crust. The pizza was good but nothing great. The listed menu price is $14.50, which is about average for most pizza places. Service is bad. Placing your order at the counter is fine. The young ladies taking the order are very nice and helpful. They greet custumers and are friendly. But, the kid ordered a salad and a meatball sandwich. The salad should come first. But the pizza came first and we had to remind the girl about the salad and meatball sandwich. The meatball sandwich came next. But we had to remind the girl about the salad. Then after a five minute wait, the kid finally got the salad!!!! People shouldn't have to remind the server what we ordered and it shouldn't take that long for a salad and meatball sandwich to arrive. I wouldn't make a special trip to That's Amore. Plenty of other good pizza places closer to me. But if I were in the area I would order a pizza to go. They have a huge pizza called the Pizzamus Maximus, which has 20 slices, for $30 with one topping.

Tasty Q Bar-B-Que-Closed

Tasty Q Bar-B-Que
2959 Crenshaw Blvd,
L.A. CA 90016
(323) 735-8325

Tasty Q is housed in what looks like a former Taco Bell.

I ordered the mini-dinner pork ribs with double cole slaw for $8.39. The four ribs were just OK. The ribs seem like they are grilled over hickory instead of being smoked. Which makes for a pretty tough piece of rib and only a decent smoke flavor. The ribs also had a lot of fat on them. The only thing I really liked about the ribs was the spicy rub they put on. But after the first bite it goes downhill from there.

The BBQ sauce has a spice that really overpowers the sauce. You can't taste anything else. I'm not sure what the spice maybe but it's too strong and overpowering for my tastes.

Tasty Q also serves turkey legs, turkey necks and other soul food options.

The people are friendly and service is good. But the food isn't anything to write home about.

With Phillips and J & J within five miles of Tasty Q, the only reason to go to Tasty Q would be if the other places were closed.

Please note, if you're going to comment about Tasty Q or any other BBQ place I've reviewed, spare me the "You should try the brisket or the pulled pork." Those comments will be deleted. I have already stated I only go to BBQ place for PORK SPARE RIBS. There are many other blogs that review the other meats served at BBQ places. Or create your own blog. My blog will only review the PORK RIBS.

J&J Burger & Bar B Que-Closed

J&J Burger & Bar B Que
5754 Adams Blvd.
LA, CA 90016
323-934-5390

Ok, nothing great to look at from the outside. But never judge a book by it's cover. Or in this case a BBQ restaurant by it's exterior. This is one of the best BBQ places in LA. J&J Burger & Bar B Que is on Adams, a block east of Fairfax. They have about six plastic outdoor table to eat there but mostly J & J is a take out place.

Pictured is the pork ribs, lunch portion, with potato salad for $5.41. You get 3-4 ribs for lunch and 5-6 ribs for dinner. The ribs were nice and well smoked and very meaty. There was a little more fat than the last few times I went but the ribs were still very good. Not mushy and falling off the bone but very tender and flavorful. It's pretty easy to tell they use real wood to smoke their meats, there is a place that sells all kinds of wood that is used for smoking.

The mild BBQ sauce has a good flavor throughout. There isn't a kick at the end but a flavor and adds well to the ribs.

Very friendly service. But it does take awhile for them to prepare your order. But it's well worth the wait.

The only thing I do not like about J & J is their times. They close about 6:30pm everyday. That's too early!!! And they close on Sundays. It's hard to get to J & J during the week with LA traffic.

Please note, if you're going to comment about J &J's or any other BBQ place I've reviewed, spare me the "You should try the brisket or the pulled pork." Those comments will be deleted. I have already stated I only go to BBQ place for PORK SPARE RIBS. There are many other blogs that review the other meats served at BBQ places. So if you want those reviews go to those blogs. My blog will only review the PORK RIBS.

Mr. Wok-Closed

Mr. Wok
326 Diamond Bar Blvd.
Diamond Bar
909-396-8551

Mr. Wok is a neighborhood fast food Chinese place, with food on steam trays and people ordering 1, 2, or 3 item combinations. I ordered the half rice and half chow mein with teriyaki chicken and mushroom chicken for $5.40.

The rice has some cabbage, carrots, and peas. Nothing great just your run of the mill fried rice. The chow mein is kinda of greasy and is just noodles and some cabbage mixed in.

The mushroom chicken is on the right side in the pictures. The chicken was bad. First of all there isn't that much chicken, mostly it's filled with potatoes, zucchini, and mushrooms. Which are cut up big so it makes it looks as though you're getting a lot. There was a very small amount of chicken and the chicken was pretty bland and tough. Not good. The fillers were good but it shouldn't be 75% fillers and 25% chicken.

The teriyaki chicken, they can't put in any fillers. But the chicken was cold!!!! It wasn't even luke warm, just cold!!!. The steam must not have been working!! The chicken was also bland and flavorless, even if you added the teriyaki sauce.

Service was good. I was greeted quickly and I told him what I wanted. He quickly filled the order and it was nice. But I would not go back. How can any hot item be served cold??? It just shouldn't happen. I also don't like the idea of adding big chucks of fillers to make it appear like you're getting a lot.

Billy's-Glendale-Closed

Billy's
216 Orange St.
Glendale
818-246-1689

I haven't been to Billy's in over ten years. But I remembered Billy's being a very good deli. So since I was in the area, I decided to go back to Billy's and try their sandwiches again. I'm glad I did go back to Billy's after going to Canter's about a week ago.

I ordered the #16 combo for about $14 tax and tip included. The sandwich is suppose to be brisket, corned beef, swiss cheese and dressing. But I asked for pastrami instead of brisket and they gladly made the substitution. All sandwiches include a side and I choosed cole slaw. About two minutes later my sandwich comes. The meat are staked so high and I was impressed. The swiss cheese and dressing were put on the pastrami. I took a bite out of the pastrami and it was much better than the pastrami at Canter's. The pastrami was tender and wasn't salty at all. It had a little more fat than I like but overall the pastrami is first rate. The swiss cheese added a nice nutty flavor. The dressing, which is Thousand Island dressing, wasn't as tangy as many thousland island dressings I've had. A much more mild flavor to this dressing which also added to the taste of the sandwich.

I next had the corned beef and wow, was it great. Tender, not stringy, flavorful and lean. Maybe the best corned beef sandwich in LA. The rye bread was soft and fresh and the crust was hard at all. I personally don't understand why people like the crust hard on bread.

I also really like the cole slaw. This cole slaw wasn't soaked with mayo. It was basically some kind of pickled cabbage. Not too tart or sweet. But very fresh and crispy cabbage. If BBQ places could make cole slaw like this!!!

Service was good though she could have filled my glass of water a little faster and checked more often. But when I paid, there were four or five people in front of me and only one cashier!!!

I would go back to Billy's. The parking structure next door to Billy's offers 2 free hours of parking with validation.

Michaelangelo's Pizza-Closed

Michaelangelo's Pizza
1331 E Chapman Ave
Fullerton, CA
714-870-6892

Michaelangelo's Pizza makes a whole wheat crust that I love and provides great service that every restaurant should learn from. It's mostly a take out place but there are about eight tables to dine in. It's a fairly small place and it does get hot in there, especially during a heat wave like we're having now. I ordered a large Michaelangelo's Special for $20 that included a $2 off coupon. The Michaelangelo's Special has pepperoni, sausage, green pepper and mushrooms on a whole wheat crust.

The whole wheat crust has a much firmer, thicker texture than a regular crust, which makes for a great pizza. The toppings are piled high and are all good quality. The sausage has a mild flavor which I prefer. The pepperoni is also good with a nice flavor. The mushrooms and green peppers are fresh.

I really like the service. Make that I love the service. I was greeted with a smile when I walked into the restaurant. Other restaurants should take note, it was a teenaged girl who was very friendly and took her job seriously. She was helpful and very nice while she took my order. The guy who seemed like the manager, was very friendly and helpful. I asked for half the pizza with no pepperoni and he said no problem. After placing my order, I remembered that I didn't order a wheat crust. So I asked the guy in the kitchen if they could change it to a wheat crust, he said no problem and quickly went and made a wheat crust. Then I waited. The wait didn't seem any longer than normal for a pizza. But they kept saying "Sorry for the wait." I said not a problem at all. I got the pizza and they said "Thank you and have a good evening." That my faithful readers of The New Diner is what customer service is all about!!!! There wasn't any punk kid with an attitude. There wasn't a jerk kid who is just working to make money. What there is a bunch of good people who know how to treat customers. There was even a girl who had the night off and came to eat there but helped answer some questions for customers and gave a couple customers their take out pizza. I heard so many thank yous, I thought I was at Mickey's and Minnie's house. I much prefer supporting a privately owned pizza place like Michaelangelo's Pizza, where the food is great and the service is even better, than some corporate pizza place that doesn't give a damn.

I will go back to Michaelangelo's Pizza again and again, even if it is behind the Orange Curtain. If you eat there and are still hungry, there is a Ben n Jerry's Ice cream in the same strip mall. Nothing better than a great pizza and Ben n Jerry's ice cream for dessert.
