South Coast Winery

South Coast Winery, Resort & Spa
34843 Rancho California Road
Temecula

Many people go wine tasting at the great wineries in Temecula. But before a day of drinking, you need to have a good meal or you'll be drunk after one tasting. This in no way says or implies people should drink and drive. DO NOT drink and drive.

South Coast Winery offers a great breakfast and a wonderful view at their winery. I got the Create your own omelet, $10, with bacon, ham and cheddar cheese. The omelet was very tasty with the bacon being nice and crunchy, the sausage spicy and the eggs nice and fluffy. A great way to start off my day of wine tasting.

Service is pretty good. The servers are attentive and helpful. They do a good job refilling drinks.

I would go back to South Coast Winery for their breakfast items. They also offer a lunch and dinner menu but I've never tried either menu.

Plantation House-Closed

Plantation House Restaurant

Plantation House Restaurant is next to the Maurice Carrie Winerery. They have a Hawaiian style menu.

I orderd the Plantation Wrap, $12. A tortilla wrap with avocado, salsa and cream cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, bacon, swiss cheese, and of course turkey. This is pretty good. While certain fresh and tasty, I didn't find anything outstanding about it. And at $12 for a wrap, it better be damn good.

The wrap comes with fried rice. The rice was came cold. WTF is that. We wait a long time for our food and the rice is cold? That tells me the server didn't pick up the order when it was ready or the rice from the kitchen is already cold. Either way not the way to service fried rice.

Service was very poor. It took forever for the food at arrive. Our server was very short and really a bitch. She wasn't friendly. She didn't come to our table enough. She never asked how things were or if we needed anything.

Overall what you get is an Applebee's quality food. But at prices about 25% higher. I would not go back to Plantation House again. High prices and poor service doesn't make for a second trip back.

Please note. Plantation House has now closed. I'm so shocked. Please notice the sarcasm in that statement.
