Vons-Closed
Vons
It may surprise some people, but Vons has very good sandwiches. Many Vons have been renovated to provide better service. Oneof the services is a service deli that serves signature sandwiches. They have 14 different sandwiches including one where you decide which meats and breads you want.
I ordered a #2, Chicago Southsider, for $4.99, which includes roast beef, horseradish cheddar cheese, horseradish dressing, lettuce, and tomatoes served on Italian bread. I asked for ciabatta bread instead of the Italian bread.
The meats are suppose to be Vons best lunch meat, Primi Tagilio and the roast beef was fresh and tasty. The lettuce was also fresh and the sandwich maker cut the lettuce in half and only used the top of the lettuce, very nice touch. The tomatoes were just ok. The ciabatta bread is a little chewy and tough.
Vons is my sandwich standby location. The sandwiches are made fresh to order and reasonably priced. Vons also offers a special, when you buy seven sandwiches the 8th sandwich is free. Many times Vons has a coupon for a dollar off in their weekly ads.
Service varys depending on the sandwich maker. Some are good and attentive, others leave a lot to be desired.
