After having dinner at Mad Wolf Mongolian BBQ a few years back, I passed by this Molcasalsa and always meant to stop in. But until last night's, late night hunger got to me, I still hadn't tried it. I naturally assumed this Molcasalsa was part of a chain like the Molcasalsa in La Habra. But the person working there told me they have nothing to do with the Molcasalsa in La Habra. Oh well who cares anyways, let's talk about the food here.

I ordered the flying saucer tostada, $3.60 and Carne Asada taco, $2.50.

The flying saucer tostada is basically a huge tostada willed with beans and every vegetable known to man. I mean there was lettuce, tons of onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and cheese. It should have shredded beef too. But there was no meat and because there is no meat, I think the $3.60 price is too high. Well at least I didn't see or taste any meat. Maybe they forgot it? The tostada shell was light and crispy but it needs to be eaten right away, it doesn't hold up well and gets real soggy.

The carne asada taco was very good, though they could cut down on the gucamole. The carne asada was tender and very well seasoned. A soft corn tortilla wrapped around a very generous portion of carne asada. The gucamole was mild, didn't have an overpowering flavor, that I find in most gucamole. I would order this again.

They are opened 24 hours and I used the drive through since the dining area was closed. The service was nice, friendly and quick.

Dispite the flying saucer tostada, I would go back to Molcasalsa, I just wouldn't order the flying saucer tostada.

While I was taking a different route to Long Beach, going west on Katella, so I didn't have to fight the traffic on the 22 freeway, I found Super Mex just west of Knott. What's interesting is that there are two Super Mexs in the same shopping center. There is a take out only and a sit down, dine in Super Mex. The pictures are from the dine in Super Mex. Super Mex has been around since 1954, starting in Long Beach and expanding into the Orange Curtain.

Super Mex has the most interesting chips and salsa. The salsa is fine, not too spicy and fresh. But the chips are whole corn tortillas and you have to break them into bite sized pieces. They were good but they had spent too much time under a heat lamp.

I ordered an asada tostada. The tostada came on two corn tortilla chips, a small amount of beans, lettuce, jack and cheddar cheese and guacamole. The asada was a little different than most asada that I've had. It had more of a chili flavor. Most asada are grilled with citrus marniade. It was tender and tasty but not my type. Give me the regular asada. The other ingredients were very fresh and tasty. Not the best tostada I've ever had, I actually would prefer a nice tostada shell, not just corn tortilla chips.

Service was pretty good. I was greeted quickly and my order was taken quickly. My only complaint was that the server didn't refill my water quickly enough.

I would go back to Super Mex but would order the chicken or carnitas. Not a big fan of their asada.

Casa Gamino has five locations in the LA area. Interesting they have two locations in the Orange Curtain, including the Old Town Tustin. I had been to this location about five years ago and thought the food was good and the prices were better.

The prices are still good but the food isn't great. I ordered the tostado special with chicken for about $9 tax and tip included. The tostado had lettuce, two kinds of cheese, a tomato slice, beans and this nasty red sauce. The chicken, though plentiful, was very bland and flavorless. The tostado was crispy and flakey. The other ingredients were fresh but the tostado wasn't good because the chicken was so bad.

Service was average. The busboy was very good, he always kept the water glasses and chips and salsa filled. But the waitress took awhile to take our order, even though there wasn't anybody there. She was nice, just a little slow.

I wouldn't go back to Casa Gamino. Too many places closer to me with better food and even better prices. If I were in the Tustin area, I would go to El Gallo Giro in Santa Ana.

Taco Factory is a chain with locations spread out around the LA/OC area. Taco Factory in Diamond Bar replaced Brahma Burger a long time Diamond Bar burger place.

I ordered the Tostada grande with carnitas for $6.48. The tostada has a nice cripsy shell. They add beans, sour cream, cheese, lettuce and your choice of meat. Gucamole is added but I hate gucamole. I added tomatoes and onions and some mild salsa from their salsa bar. I like the quanity of items they put in the tostada but the quality is lacking. The carnitas was bland with no flavor at all. Put some spices in there. I guess they think mixing everything up will improve the taste of the carnitas. The best part of the tostatda is the crispy shell.

Taco Factory is OK, nothing great. There aren't that many good Mexican places in the Diamond Bar. I think Taqueria Azteca is better but both are very average at best.
