I like Mongolian BBQ because you can choose what meats, veggies and oils, you want in your dish. I haven't had Mongolian BBQ for a long time, so I decided to try Golden Palace Mongolian BBQ in Pasadena.

Golden Palace offers an all you can eat dinner, for $11.95, that includes soup, rice, and the pocket bread. The buffet had a large variety of meats; pork, chicken, beef, turkey, and lamb, which are all sliced thin and frozen, and veggies. All the veggies were nice and fresh. Everything on the buffet table was clean, always important in a buffet, and always stocked.



I combined beef and chicken with noodles, onions, celery, and carrots, with their hoi sin sauce. Remember to fill your bowl, it's best to grab two bowls, as much as possible, because everything shrinks down to half it's size.

But this was good. Again, all the veggies were fresh, the meats are sliced thin and frozen but they cook up quickly.



For my second dish, I only put veggies and meat and mix it with white rice. I used pork and turkey for the meats, carrots, onions and bean sprouts, garlic, and sesame oil. I liked this dish a lot too.

It's hard to review a Mongolian BBQ restaurant, because so much of it, is your personal choice. What I look for in a Mongolian BBQ restaurant, is a clean buffet table that is maintained throughout my entire time there, fresh and a good selections of veggies, good meats. I got that here at Golden Palace.

Service is very good. The owner was very nice and helpful. They did overcharge our table by a soda, which we brought to their attention, and they took it off their menu. Which is nice. I realize mistakes happen and it's how restaurants handle those mistakes, that shows a restaurant true colors.

I would go back to Golden Palace, if I was in the area.

Grand Central Market offers a wide variety of choices for your dining pleasure. I think of the best deals at the Grand Central Market is the Mongilian BBQ.

Pictured is the BBQ mix for $5. All that food for $5!!! You can't beat it. The BBQ mix has shrimp sticks, chicken sticks, bbq short ribs, and Hong Kong chicken, with white rice and veggies. They cook all the meats when you order them on a grill. The shrimp were a bit overcooked. The chicken sticks were tender and flavorful. The short ribs were great. Tender, with little fat and flavored with some kind of soy sauce mix and grilled just right. The Hong Kong chicken is also flavorful. The chicken was white meat chicken.

Service is pretty good but business like.

I would go back to the Mongolian BBQ anytime. Good food at a great price set in a historic location, can't be beat.

Mad Wolf is across the street from Great Wall Mongolian BBQ, and the basic difference between the two is that Mad Wolf gives you a plate of fried wontons and fried shrimp for about a $1 more. So all you can eat Mongolian BBQ with fried wontons and fried shrimp for $8.95 is still a very good deal. The bowls at Great Wall are a little bigger but when it's all you can eat, that doesn't matter.

Mad Wolf offers beef, chicken, turkey, and pork. They have lamb but the night I went they were out of lamb. They have tons of fresh vegetables including bean sprouts, brocolli, onions, mushrooms, and carrotts.

I usually fill my bowl up with meat, noodles, broccoli, mushrooms, and onions. Then I'll put a couple scoops of teriyaki and mild sauce. Then the Mongolian chef go to work turning fresh vegetables and noodles into a great tasting meal.

Service is pretty good at Mad Wolf. The only thing I didn't like about Mad Wolf is they didn't not turn on the air conditioner. It was very hot in there especially with that huge BBQ going. Please turn on the air conditioner next time. Otherwise I would be very glad to go back.

Mongolian BBQ is where you choose the vegetables and meats and oils then a BBQ chef will quickly cook those ingredients on a large flat grill. Some chefs even put on a good show while cooking your meal.

I love this place. The vegetables are so fresh you think they just picked them from the fields that morning. Almost any kind of vegetable are there for your enjoyment. The meats are frozen and are lean. They offer, beef, pork, chicken, and lamb. They have all kinds of oils and sauces to mix with your meats and vegetables. Best of all, the bowls they use are huge so you can stuff as much of the fresh ingredients as you want.

They offer a pocket biscuit which you can stuff your meats and vegetables into. A Mongolian version of a Pegorie.

They offer an all you can eat dinner for $7.25. A single serving dinner is about $6.00. As you can see on the picture lunch is $4.50 for a single serving.

Update: Sept 14, 2005

They are very paranoid about anybody taking pictures. After I took the picture of the meats and vegetables island, the owner told me, Sorry no pictures. So I couldn't take a picture of the chefs. But as you can see the bowls are huge.

Still the best Mongolian BBQ around. And nobody can beat their prices. $10 for all you can eat include any soda.
